How long does it take to create the sculptures? Each sculptures take weeks to create and the entire show took about 14 months to put together. Not an easy task but, thanks to some talented artists, the results are pretty amazing.
Are all the pumpkins real?We have a combination craft and real pumpkins at the event.
We have real pumpkins carved weekly by a number of volunteers, and artists running the live demonstration, and these are displayed around the event track.
We use craft pumpkins for our sculptures and, like real pumpkins, these are hand carved by artists using 3D and 2D techniques. Some people have asked why we don't use real pumpkins for our sculptures and the answer is simply, they don't last long enough. It would be impossible to put on a show this size, or bigger as we have planned for next year, with real pumpkins that rot in a few days.
